Cormet Resurfacing Hip System Post PMA-Approval Surveillance Study

Dr. Stefan Kreuzer is one of the lead investigators for the Cormet Post Approval Hip Resurfacing Study, and implanted the first study patient on April 21, 2008. Currently patients with insurance are being enrolled for this hip resurfacing study for this approved hip replacement method of treating hips with OA.

As one of the conditions for FDA approval of the Cormet Hip Resurfacing System (July 3, 2007) in the USA, a clinical study has been designed to enroll 160 patients with surgeons trained via the Stryker training program. Eight surgeons have been selected based upon experience with hip resurfacing and location or type of practice setting. Results of this study will be compared to the FDA clinical study to demonstrate continued safety and effectiveness of the device.

Dr. Kreuzer graduated from medical school at the University of Texas in San Antonio in 1995. He went on to do his orthopedic residency at Galveston and completed a Fellowship in joint reconstruction at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2001. He has six publications with several appearing in peer review journals, and he now serves on faculty for the Stryker Cormet Surgeon Training Program. Dr. Kreuzer said following the surgery for the first study patient, “Surgery went great and we are very excited to be part of this research effort.” Brian Caballero, LVN Clinical Research Coordinator, will provide research staff support for Dr. Kreuzer for the Cormet clinical study.
